This development was a new-build accommodation for approximately 230 students. The project involved the demolition of an existing commercial building, the erection of two blocks of cluster flats and 10 family houses to provide student accommodation and ancillary residential facilities, i.e. associated cycle stores, bin stores, courtyards, hard and soft landscaping.
BAILEYGOMM carried out the full Mechanical and Electrical Services Design to this new-build development. The buildings are highly insulated, with high-efficiency boilers and a high-efficiency ventilation system, which give the building a considerably low energy demand.
The student accommodation development achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The design and choice of the lighting, plant and mechanical systems were selected to maximise the BREEAM credits available. Similarly, the design of the family houses was designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes, Level 4.
The development was completed in August 2012.
