We prepared the mechanical, electrical and public health design for 727 student bedrooms, including DDA accessible rooms, within a 15,500m² site. A number of existing buildings were demolished to create the new development and existing utility services were re-routed.
The SBEM calculation of a typical proposed block to determine the benchmark enabled us to reduce energy consumption through energy efficient design.
A range of renewable energy technologies were considered for the development and solar hot water was deemed to be the most feasible low zero carbon (LZC) option.
A BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating was achieved.
