BAILEYGOMM’s primary business is the design, supervision
and management of full Mechanical and Electrical Designs.
BAILEYGOMM has undertaken a predominance of research, GMP
and pharmaceutical work. This work has allowed us to develop
numerous skills to carry out fully successful projects from
conception to delivery.
Projects for pharmaceutical companies have been carried out
in laboratory developments and secondary manufacturing facilities,
including bio-medical research facilities, analytical process
development areas, stability testing and clinical packaging
facilities.
A significant proportion of our work has been carried out
in existing functioning facilities with particular emphasis
on minimising the impact on the client’s core business.
Research Facility (Project Value 11M)
- Incorporating full Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health
design services was the design of a three-storey research
extension, which was constructed adjacent to existing occupied
buildings.
- The project encapsulated a floor area of 2,500m², including
plant space. BAILEYGOMM were the Lead Consultants for the
entire project from concept through to completion and Home
Office approval. Details included:
- Home Office regulated holding rooms and procedure rooms.
- Rooms served from zoned plant to maintain close control
at regulatory temperature and humidity conditions.
- Design of PLC controlled lighting and door access control
strategy for use by scientists and technicians.
- Room regulatory environment conditions achieved, i.e.
temperature, humidity, lighting levels, and noise levels
(including ultrasound) accepted by Home Office in record
time.
- A new extension to an existing biomedical facility to
double the size of the research operations. The construction
did have associated technical challenges that needed close
management. The facility included a robotic facility, which
required extensive technical input and innovative door control,
and pressure regime design. The facility received ‘Home
Office approval’ in one of the shortest periods ever following
Practical Completion.
Stability Testing and Quality Operations Laboratory (Project
Value £4.2M)
- Design of a new laboratory installation by the provision
of a complete mezzanine floor within existing warehouse laboratory
including stainless steel purified water loop system, fume
cupboards, downdraught ventilated tables, HPLC’s, glass wash,
office area, and write up area.
Analytical Research Laboratory (Project Value £1M)
- Design of a new laboratory within a fully operational
existing facility, which included the provision of Robotics
tables, glove boxes, HPLC’s, together with mass spectrometer
and NMR suites.
